Assalamualaikum wr.wb
On my blog this time I want to highlight about politics. specifically, those in Indonesia.
Politics is still a taboo for millennials. Moreover, in 2019 these are political years, where there will be legislative elections and presidential elections that will occur in April.
From the survey I did, that is, among my own friends. Many of them don't understand politics and tend to dislike it. Therefore they became political stutterers. Even though they are the beginner voters, who are expected to take a big part in the election. Because, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs, there are 5,035,887 new voters in the 2019 Election. This data is included in the Potential Voter Population List (DP4).
Because of the lack of socialization and discussion about politics among millennials. Makes them unwilling to follow politics. In fact, he did not want to watch shows or news about politics in his own country. They prefer entertainment programs and fiction.
As a result, when the presidential election, legislative election or regional election is held, they do not know who will be elected and what are the advantages or disadvantages of the presidential election, legislative elections and regional elections. So that many of them are easily affected and become original voters. In fact, it becomes "GOLPUT". As in the 2009 presidential election there were 24.89% abstentions.
Millennial benefits understand politics. Those who will lead this country because their voices are strong and will be taken into account. And they are the ones who must continue the political relay in their country. In order to be able to organize and make better policies.
I'm not hitting here all millennials here. Because many have started to open their eyes and care about politics due to the Indonesian political situation is heating up. And the government should provide education about politics early so that all people do not return to being many who are abstinent. So because of that, let's get better literacy for Indonesia.
